It’s been a very long time I have written a blog post. Now I am back with solutions for the problems which I have been facing since pretty long time.
There was this problem in my Google Chrome browser where, whenever I type some string in the address bar of the browser and press return. The string gets duplicated thrice and is being searched by the google search engine.
The following screenshots demonstrates the problem:
In the above image: I typed in “google themes”
Here’s what I got as a result:
As you can see the result is duplicated thrice and is being searched. In the above case, the results are correct and you have got what you were expecting.
But the problem comes when you type in any math expression in the address bar , something like “567%23”
If it was a single string it would show an calculator and an answer but due to the duplication, it shows you some nonsense results which is annoying.
How do I solve this:
Step 1: Right click on the address bar, It shows you a small menu. Select “Edit Search Engines“
Step 2: Select Google Search engine which will be default in general from the list.
Step 3: Select the URL, copy it and paste it in any of your text editors.
Step 4: The URL will be something like following
Remove the duplicates in the url. As you can see there are three “%s” in the url which is getting assigned and which is creating this problem.
The final url should be like the following :
Note: Make sure that there are no spaces in the url.
Step 5: Copy the final url and paste it in the place of the search engine URL and press Done.
Now, if you type in any string in the address bar and search for it. It will work like a charm without any nuisance. 🙂
