Uninstalling Adobe Reader from Mac OSX completely!

Hello everyone,

Firstly, if you are using a mac, I don’t think there is any need of adobe reader. It is rather very slow and the performance sucks. It blocks and asks you to click trust whenever you want to view or open a pdf in the browser which is very annoying. The Mac native application, The Preview is one of the best and I feel that is more smooth and awesome than the adobe reader.

Anyhow, people like me install the adobe reader and get stuck with it for a long time. This is because when you uninstall the adobe reader from your system, you won’t be allowed to view the pdf files on safari. It doesn’t let even preview to handle it which is really a pain in the ass. I was a victim for this for a very long time. I didn’t really have any solution to completely remove the adobe reader from my machine and use preview for my work. Instead I was forcefully using Adobe for viewing the pdf files.

Okay, but you people doesn’t have to face this problem, because I have a solution for this problem now which I am going to discuss here with the help of some screenshots. Uninstalling the Adobe Reader is quite simple. You can use App Cleaner  which is really a beautiful application which does the work for you. Drag and drop the Adobe reader icon from the applications to the app cleaner application and give your authorization to remove the application. Other way around is, simply go to the /Applications/Adobe Reader.app and delete it. When you do this, you may cause a break in Safari’s functionality to read the pdf files as discussed above. The following screen shot shows you the message which appears when you try to view a pdf file on Safari.

The solution is :

Goto /Library/Internet Plug-Ins and remove “AdobePDFViewer.plugin” and “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin“. This does the magic.

How to fix Application Blocked by Security Settings? – Mac OS X

Hello fellow bloggers and readers,

Sometimes you would face some error dialog boxes which says “Application Blocked by Security Settings“. This happened with me when I really wanted to snip an mp3 file from youtube using snipmp3.com . This dialog box doesn’t allow you to download any content from the site. Why does this happen? Why doesn’t it let you download the content?   This all comes down to the Java which is running on your machine. This usually happens because the site uses the java applet to process and download the file.

The error looks something like this:

Application Blocked

And on clicking the okay button will show you this dialog box:

Application cannot be run

Okay! This looks seriously distressing and it doesn’t allow you to download your favorite song. How MEAN!!

Lets see how can we fix this, Before fixing the issue, lets know something about this Java’s latest update which has some serious security fixes.

The Java 7 update 10  introduces the ability to manage when and how untrusted Java applications (i.e. an application that is digitally signed by an unknown publisher, or a certificate that has not been issued by a trusted Certificate Authority) will run if they are included on a web page. Setting the security level within the Java Control Panel will determine whether

  1. You are prompted before an untrusted java application is run (MEDIUM or HIGH) or
  2. Untrusted Java applications will be blocked so they cannot run (VERY HIGH).

Starting with Java 7 Update 51, users will be able to configure the applications to run, that would normally be blocked by security checks. If the exception list feature is used, the option will be listed within the Java Control Panel.

Where can you find this Java Control panel on your machine?

So easy, go to the system preferences and if you don’t know where that exists, click on the sweet Apple icon which is on the top left corner in the menu bar. There you can find the system preferences. Click on it and then find the Java icon in the bottom. It looks something like this :

System Preferences

On clicking on the Java icon, the following window shows up followed by the  Java Control panel.

Java Click

The mighty Java Control Panel:

Java Control panel

Okay, now we need to tweak the security settings in this control panel so that it allows us to run those applets and free those applications 😀

Click on the Security tab. It looks like the following:

Security tab

Now click on the “Edit Site list”  and add whatever application is blocked, so that it gets unblocked by the Java. Here in my case its “snipmp3.com” so I added it as follows:

Clicking on Edit list Click on Add to add the exception to the site  Press Continue Added succesfully

Now finally you will see the site added to the exception list:

Final

Now, that warning doesn’t pop up which says “Application Blocked”, It nicely allows the application to load the java applet and fetches the links 😀

There you go. Awesome, Now I downloaded that song and I am having great fun.  If you want you can even revert it by doing it in the reverse process 🙂

If you guys are facing the same problems, please go through the steps, fix it and have fun 🙂

Whatsapp on Mac? on PC ? I seriously think its a spam!

Okay fellow bloggers and awesome readers, here’s an another interesting post on social media technology. Now a days, most of the people are able to afford a smart phone [Thanks to the Indian and Chinese companies], an awesome gadget through which we can communicate with people round the clock.

Okay! But I don’t have a smart phone. Trust me. I don’t have one. I am still waiting for that day when I could afford to buy a latest iPhone. Though I have iPad’ssss I still didn’t buy an iPhone because I don’t think iPhone is suitable for this hot tropical climate . People do think that it’s a stupid reason, but yes its my own decision and my goddamn money. One thing was bothering me from many years “Whatsapp on iPad“!! I have a simple single question to the developers of Whatsapp, Why the hell you haven’t launched Whatsapp for Tablets?? There are many apps like Viber, BBM, Wechat, Line and so on which runs on  iPad and the other tablets. But this one app has been on my nerves from past many years! My friends, colleagues every damn person who owns even a symbian phone is on whatsapp,(thanks to the cross platform application support) except me. I am on every other damn app where people hardly respond, they keep on saying “ping me on whatsapp dude”! There was a whole new world out there within that application with hell lot of friends having awesome conversations and fun. I was missing out all that fun.damn it!

I used to encounter with several messages which says Whatsapp on Mac or PC! I was always like, Are you kidding me? It should be spam and some crap. But its not, it was for REAL. I got to know that there are some apps which are the Android simulators works both on windows & mac where we can install whatsapp and have fun. Though it is from a computer, it is fun. Okay, I downloaded this awesome software called “Blue Stacks” and boom I installed Whatsapp on it and see who’s there on Whatsapp now having fun with their pals- Its me!  HELL YEAH- I AM ON WHATSAPP NOW!

Okay let me tell you, this application to run on your machine needs some good RAM or else it takes years to load.

1. Download the application from the link.

2. Install it by just clicking next next next. The conventional installation steps!

3. Run the application.

4. Be patient! On some machines, it may take several minutes to load. But generally this happens for the first load, but later it does start very quickly.

5. You will find some of the apps like Facebook, Twitter installed on the blue stacks.

6.  Click on the search icon and search for “whatsapp”. Just click on Install and there you go.

7. Follow the simple steps required by the whatsapp, and done, you have your app running on your mac or pc.

To add your contacts, you need to click on the menu button and add a new contact manually as you have no access to the contacts of your pc or mac. Need to add each contact manually – tedious process!

Search_Whatsapp

App Screen with whatsapp

The buttons on the bottom footer are Back button, Menu button, Home button, Full Screen button and the Settings button [Left to right]

Lovely isn’t it?

PS: Initially, blue stacks was said to work only on Mac Lion OSX but its perfectly working on Mavericks on which I am using now. My experiment worked. Eureka!

I would like to really appreciate the awesome work of the developers at Blue stacks for releasing this amazing piece of software and giving it out for FREE! YOU PEOPLE ROCK! #HATSOFF

Have fun pals. Stay Awesome 🙂
